usb headset volume

just got a new usb headset, and noticed even with all the volume controls at max, it's really quiet. does anyone have any suggestions?

USB headsets often have their own soundcard/mixer. You can check with:

alsamixer

and then pressing F6 and adjusting or unmuting.
