I'm using a lightweight wm too now (coming from gnome). What do you use to display network connectivity and battery power?

Yes you can, a few minor changes (the userchrome.css file is a mess right now wink) tonight/tomorrow and then i'll post it here smile
Would you like a stylish file or just the userchrome.css? (doesn't really matter, only the first line)

For network connectivity I use Wcid, for power management I use gnome-power-manager (mind the many dependencies)

Thanks

Re: January 2010 Screenshots

Ah gpm... I don't want all those deps just for a bettery monitor... I might throw together a little Python application this weekend that shows just a tray icon to monitor the battery level, using the gtk icon theme for themeability.

for a /really/ lightweight battery and wifi monitoring approach:

Isn't rendering SVG CPU intensive?

Re: January 2010 Screenshots

Not much changed since last month except the wallpaper.
Unreleased tint and openbox themes, EasyListeningDark gtk theme.
Made a new conky last week too.

Ask if you need anything.

Re: January 2010 Screenshots

Still working hard on this. This is Gnome + Openbox + PyTyle. I still want to have a panel like awesome3's default one, but i'm having trouble figuring which one can offer that. If anyone knows please tell me! I'm talking about a panel like awesome3 that shows my workspaces (ex. 1-9), shows the clock, as well as a list of windows i have opened.

Guess its only rendered once to bitmap and then cached, so yes guess it is and who cares, if its fast.
Seems fast enough here so I'd prefer svg  over bitmap smile

My IBM ThinkPad T41 at 1440x900 (left screen) and 21" Acer monitor at 1920x1080. I've had basically the same setup for 3 or 4 months. It's starting to get old, but I can't think of any ways to really improve it.

How did you get that system tray? Is that built into dwm now?
I'm switching back to dwm momentarily if it is smile

Re: January 2010 Screenshots

Looks like conky to me. But still a very nice set up...

If you want a systray in dwm, you could try this: http://afterstep13.wordpress.com/2008/1 … r-for-dwm/

Arch + dwm   •   Mercurial repos  •   Surfraw

Dude, share your rc.lua and yout theme.lua please.

I created a github account and uploaded my awesomewm files there:

http://github.com/tdy/dotfiles/tree/mas … g/awesome/

Caveats:
- I had never used lua prior to awesome3, and I have very limited programming background in general, so I'm sure a lot of the code is ugly/inefficient.  I will gladly take suggestions, bug fixes, etc.
- I don't always keep up with the latest awesomewm versions due to time constraints.  If an update requires config changes that I don't have time to fix, I will just revert the upgrade until I have time.  Somtimes can be a long time (e.g. I stayed with 3.0 until 3.2 came out.. skipped the 3.1 branch entirely).

Credits:
- Most of the colors are inspired by the Dust GTK+ theme.
- Most of the widget/layout icons are based on anrxc's artwork.

the answer lies in this ml thread: http://lists.suckless.org/dev/1001/2892.html. it's a little hack which uses fbpanel. i think Julien has also written instructions in French and put them on his website.

I've seen young people waste their time reading books about sensitive vampires. It's kinda sad. But you say it's not the end of the world... Well, maybe it is!

That's fbpanel. He explained how to get the systray on his blog, http://www.julienpecqueur.com/wordpress … -dans-dwm/. However, it's in French.

Edit: upsidaisium beat me.
