[solved] downgrading gdm 2.28 breaks keyboard

Yesterday, I upgraded to gdm 2.28 and realized that it did not allow the gdm-2.20 themes, so i downgraded and now i don't have a keyboard in the login. I can go to runlevel 3 from grub and my keyboard works fine.

Before upgrading i created /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi to have the us-international keyboard (altgr-intl).
I have since deleted it and still have no keyboard.

Option "XkbLayout" "en"
Option "XkbVariant" "intl"

to

Option "XkbLayout" "us"
Option "XkbVariant" "altgr-intl"
