Hey Forum.
I'm running ArchLinux and having a problem with my MythTV setup.
In the bedroom I have a TV - which I allso use for hearing music, but unfortunably here is the place where it goes wrong.
I have Arch Installed (updated to latest packages) and running gnome as a desktop viewer.
When hearing to music - the screen goes into sleep mode ( blanc screen) even though It stills playing music!
I have uninstalled gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver, but still the screen goes into blanc mode each 10min and afterwards the music stops playing.
Is there aricks to be made - so that the TV will not gto into blanc mode ???
TIA

Some TVs blank the screen or turn off after a few minutes of inactivity. I haven't heard of one that does so with an actual picture displayed, but that may be your case.
Can you give a little more information about your setup?

I am curious how you are running without an xserver are you using something else.

OK - At that point.
Well I have xserver installed and Gnome as default uses this. But xorg.conf are autodetecting the screen and usingt these setting .- so offcarse I'm running xserver along with gnome, using gdm as login manager!
I have installed a desktop - with gnome default - Which also installs nxserver as default ( as I remember)
But removing all screensaver and disabled the one in gnome - so I cannot see why the screen shutsa down and therefor shuts off the sound!

That is why I was showing you those additions to put in your xorg. those should stop the screen from doing that.

So you'll mean instead of using the default from the system, which it selv makes - I shouldcreate an xorg, conf only for that carse ( Sounds strange to me??? )
Isn't it possible to add these params in the default gnome uses when auto-detecting instead of creating my own ???

no just edit your existing xorg.conf and add those server options.

I haven't got an existing xorg.
Gnome uses a default and do not create a xorg.conf!

Well
Sound like you dont believe me - But explaining further - Using HAL makes this unnessecary: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg#Running_Xorg
but still:
# ls -lah /etc/X11/
totalt 16K
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4,0K 11 jan 2009 .
drwxr-xr-x 56 root root 4,0K 6 jan 15:21 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K 22 jun 2009 twm
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4,0K 1 jan 23:29 xinit
I'm In doubt here - carse I do NOT see any xorg.conf and there for cannot do the trick.
I can force t6o make on - But when I got several different TV's etc setup on these ASUS EEE B202 boxes - this is rather disapoinyting that should do that for each machine

I do see that... My appologies. Without an Xorg server I personally am not sure how you would go about that.. Is it the same issue on all your tv's? Maybe the MythTV support somewhere?

Hello,
I am posting my xorg.conf:
Section "ServerFlags" Option "blank time" "0" Option "standby time" "0" Option "suspend time" "0" Option "off time" "0" EndSection
Ringing in pretty late to this thread..
@Peque
Adding the above mentioned snippet to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf (create it if it doesn't exist) would override the HAL detected config for that small portion. It doesn't override the whole config in any way. I have an xorg.conf that is very very minimal for this very reason. It only contains the portions that I want to override in particular, the rest is automagically detected.
Give it a go, if it doesn't give the results you want, remove the file, restart your X session, and there is no harm done.
