Fusion-icon or Shell Script Help

I was wondering if there is a way to configure Fusion-Icon's method of changing window managers.  For isntance, I like using Compiz most of the time, but it can severely impact gaming.  For example, the Nexuiz benchmark went from 134 FPS to 3 FPS!  So I tried with Openbox + Xcompmgr and it was perfect at 134 FPS.  That said, I'd like to swap from one to the other easily.

Fusion Icon can switch from Compiz to Openbox, but won't open xcompmgr - it also uses traditional openbox, not my LXDE configured one.  Is there a way to manually add commands to Fusion-Icons list of window managers?

Alternatively, how would I write a shell script to detect which was running, turn it off, and then open the other?

Or is there something else I should be doing entirely, like running the game on an entierly new X screen or something of the sort?
