I find my mplayer can't play the rmvb files, after upgrading to mplayer-30286-1. The outputs are:

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: init_video_codec
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.Downgrading to mplayer-29776-1 solved the problem. So it must be a bug for mplayer-30286-1.

better open a bug report on ffmpeg bugtracker?
also on the report can you attach a backtrace? for that you need to rebuild mplayer using abs and add --enable-debug and !strip to options in PKGBUILD.
developer of mplayer:
<Dark_Shikari> get a backtrace
<Dark_Shikari> if it's in the decoder, get it to crash with ffmpeg
<Dark_Shikari> and submit the bug to roundup
<wonder> roundup?
<Dark_Shikari> the ffmpeg bug tracker
<Dark_Shikari> crashes are considered particularly important
after that post the link here so i can follow

I don't think it's a bug of ffmpeg, because I find that ffplay is working well on the rmvb file, while mplayer can't.
I can give you some debug info here for mplayer:

Even though Mplayer uses FFmpeg codecs for their decoder, it still uses a different engine for it's networking end. It's been a while since I've seen Mplayer function with Real Media formats while ffplay does very well with them.

Sat Jan 16 16:05:39 CET 2010Ups. Seems like I broke some magic. Fixed in r30320.
Just deleting the binary real codecs might actually be a better
solution though.

thanks cwjiof.
to bad that now it's not a good time to update from svn. the status on svn is now "unstable"

Can we just use the patch in commit r30320 only?
