Hi, I've just read about Quantz here:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … &px=NzcwNw
Because it sounds intresting I've written a PKGBUILD http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32001 and played the game.
IMO it is great.
Unfortunately there is only a 32-bit version.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Can you tell me which are needed, so I can change the PKGBUILD to support x86_64?

basically only lib32-mesa and lib32-libxdamage. then nvidia users should install lib32-nvidia-utils

Unfortunately the link I'm using for the PKGBUILD is broken but I've already requested the permission of the publisher to provide the package on an other server.
After getting an answer I'll write about it here.

Well I've downloaded it and it's working beautyfully, on x3100 [GM965] I had never seen such fancy effects without hitching and stuttering. Game itself is pretty ql (somewhat like zuma etc)...

PKGBUILD is updated now and supports x86_64 using lib32-mesa and lib32-libxdamage like wonder wrote.
The archive was found by RandyPenguin using an other link.
Gamerizon didn't answer my questions yet so I just can use the links on dropbox.

I've found some good news about QuantZ:
edit3 (Nov 16th)
Sorry, links broken (due to too many people downloading, which is awesome). Will be repaired tomorrow morning.
Also, we'll be looking into the sound support issues and a 64 bit version. Thanks everyone for the interest!
That was written by one of the programmer of gamerizon so I think it trustful. ![]()

Here are some new links to download the new version of QuantZ
We made a new update for the current beta version. You will find the files here:
http://gamerizon.s3.amazonaws.com/Quant … 1_i386.rpm
http://gamerizon.s3.amazonaws.com/Quant … 1_i386.deb
http://gamerizon.s3.amazonaws.com/Quant … 386.tar.gzAgain, thanks so much for your help and your support. We are working hard to
make the Linux version the best
Means if there is again a time the links are broken I'll host the files myself.

What's up with the sound. They've also told me that sound fixes and 64bit versions are comming. I had no problem with sound what so ever... Intel HDA with realtek chip...
Offline
At the moment they are using OSS and I don't know how to change it although I've already ask them.
But this means no other application should use sound at the same time you're starting the game.
Do you get any error message if you start it in a terminal?

I like this game, lots of fun, good graphics, and great news about a 64bit version too. Like to see these programs being built for Linux.

A nice game, running flawlessly on my old notebook with 1.6GHz C2D and GMA950. Sound with Alsa + hda worked fine, too.
I found the "white light" effect on the beginning of each level annoying (this switching from dark background during the game to bright white could make people sick) and I wished I could disable it.
Apart from that I'll probably buy it, joining my collection of World of Goo, Machinarium, Penumbra, Prey, UT 2004 and (I trust them to release the native version soon™) Osmos. There's no other way to convice developers to make games for Linux than by buying. ;-)
Edit: One thing I forgot:
$ ./QuantZ
/usr/bin/xdg-open: line 306: xprop: command not foundI seem not to have xprop installed, but everything was working fine nonetheless.

Added new dependency to fix the xprop error.
Just update or install xorg-utils.

I used to waste time with a game called Bloobs. When I tried Quantz it reminded me of it, it's a good puzzle game.
I installed the beta when it was announced, now when I start it it displays "Demo" and refuses to open all the stages I unlocked before. The beta was not free after all?
You need to install an RTFM interface.

$ 6,50 is a bargain and well spent money. I haven't played it enough to give a final verdict but my first impression is very good.
Offline
I'll write a PKGBUILD for the final version which will use a local stored tar.gz until monday and upload as quantz.
