[SOLVED] handbrake

Hello, first time poster here, and installed Arch over the Xmas holidays.

I have a quick question about handbrake.  I installed via AUR, and when I go to run it, handbrake launches.  However, when I try to select my CD/DVD drive from the "Choose a video Source", handbrake will then sit there in what appears to be a "working" state.  I say appears to, because when I close handbrake and try to relaunch it, I get a message saying that only 1 version of handbrake can be running at a time.

Do I have something configured incorrectly?  do I need to install dependencies?

any help is appreciated.

Re: [SOLVED] handbrake

Run the program from console, and see if it spits out any error reports.

Re: [SOLVED] handbrake

Update:

I launched a terminal, typed ghb to launch handbrake, stuck in my DVD and when I clicked sources, it appeared to start to load the movie, and the chapter list at the top stayed at Chapters 3 of 21, and the DVD light just blinked.  I let it be for a while to see if it would take some time to load, but after 24 hours, no change.

When I closed handbrake, there were no errors in the terminal window.

Any idea?

I installed Arch following the beginners guide, installed gnome, and then installed handbrake via the AUR.  Am I missing something?  Is there another step I would need to perform before I can convert the movies to MKV?

Re: [SOLVED] handbrake

Yes, install libdvdcss. You need it to actually decrypt DVDs

17:24 < ConSiGno> you could call them nightly builds if you know what I mean

Re: [SOLVED] handbrake

that did convert the DVD to MKV, which is sweet, and I was able to add it to the popcorn hour library and play (SWEET).  However, when I play on my 47", the video does not fill up the screen, and is only in the center, like it's non anamorphic.  Does that make sense?

is there a setting in handbrake that will allow the MKV to play on the TV like the DVD does?

Player setting?  What are you using and post the output.  Try mplayer?
