I am attempting to use jack (launched via qjackctl), fluidsynth (via qsynth), alsa, and rosegarden to... well for now to produce any noise at all (other than the sounds of my frustrated cursing). I have followed a few tutorials, (http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/en/chapter-2.html http://www.legg.uklinux.net/rosegarden_ … _fc7.html), translating to arch as I went along. By all the metrics and checks listed in the tutorials everything is working for me, except for 2 things,
1. There is no sound (this is by far the most important metric).
2. In qjackctl, when I click Connect and look at connections, in the audio tab my Writable Clients / Input Ports as well as my Readable Clients / Ouput Ports does not list alsa_pcm!!!
I am like 3 days into this and kinda hit a wall. Any ideas/advice/requests for further information would as always be greatly appreciated!
[EDIT]
I can hit Play in rosegarden and view in qjackctl status window that Transport State goes from stopped to rolling, It appears the connection at least from rosegarden to jack is sound.

jackd is running.
Would prefer to stick with alsa, but i can give pulse a try... anything that makes sound when jack is in charge would be nice ![]()
