Hi,
When running vlc in full screen mode, gnome sceensaver doesn't respect vlc and kicks in. In vlc preferences Disable screensaver is ticked. Does anybody have a solution?
I went for a really simple solution, disabled screensaver during I watch a movie. But after it, however screensaver is enabled again, it doesn't kick in. After a day or two it works again. Strange.
I installed totem, it has no issue with screensaver. Instead power saves kick in and turn my screen off.
By the way, where can I find power management in the menu (gnome 2.28.2)?

You sure it is the screensaver and not the energy saving??

Dunno.
Using vlc screensaver starts, using totem no screensaver, but my monitor gets turned off.

Thanks for the link, I'll try alternative screensavers.
And believe or not, I went through the forum and googled the issue, but it didn't come up or I missed it.

Try using Caffeine. It can suspend screensavers and power-saving features.

You can even tell it to activate when an app (like VLC) runs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I removed gnome screensaver and installed xscreensaver and xscreensaver doesn't kick in, so it must be a gnome bug.
Later I will try gnome screensaver + caffeine as well.

VLC and totem can do that too. The problem is caused by a regression in gnome screensaver.
