Problem with display manager

Hello,

I've just installed arch with xfce desktop. But the display manager gives me hard time. First, I installed gdm, but it didn't remember the session. At each reboot the panels and and everything went back to default.

Then I uninstalled gdm and installed xgm-archlinux. I did the neccesary modifications suggested at installation. It comes up nicely but do not accept may password. When entering my username and password, the screen blacks out and the display manager comes back again asking the password.

The gdm accepted the password and I could log in.

Could anyone suggest me how to solve this problem either with gdm or xdm.

It seems, I managed to fix the problem. From some reason  the directories in the home directory had root privileges and the session couldn't be written in the appropriate directories. I changed the ownership of the directories and this fixed the problem. I still get some error reports like the ones below, but the system seems ok.

bsdson: i don't understand your first error message. The others i recognise because recently spend some time to get rid of them:

There is a file: /etc/xdg/xfce4/Xft.xrdb
when you remove the comment lines that start with #
your first 2 errors are gone.
Another file: /home/some-user/.config/xfce4/Xft.xrdb
can be deleted and this removes 2 more errors.
But than anyway these "errors" are harmless as far is i can see and do not explain the problem at the begin of this thread.
