problems with pacman

I was doing am update with Pacman -Syu and whilst it was in the process, the power cut.  When it all came back on, I tried again and got an error message -

[root@jason jason]# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database)
  if you're sure a package manager is not already
  running, you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

Now I have tried to delete the /var/lib/pacman/db.lck file but it has a red cross on it, and whatever I try I can not get rid of the file.

Any one help me in a simplified way as I still new and getting to grips with Arch.

Thanks in advance

Re: problems with pacman

You have to delete the file as root. In a terminal write "su -", become root and type "rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck".
