Some Problem with Pacman

I recently downgraded to gdm 2.20 from the current version. After fiddling around with it I wanted to change back to the current gdm and in doing so I somehow managed to corrupt the pacman database. So now I can't even install simple packeges. I even tried to resynchronize the database, but that didn't work. The following is an example:

[theta@boolean-pc ~]$ sudo pacman -S mysql
mysql package not found, searching for group...
error: 'mysql': not found in sync db

How to repair pacman?

Change the server and try again.

Re: Some Problem with Pacman

I tried but still not working.

One more thing. After fiddling with the odl gdm version when I tried to install the new version, I got an error in pacman saying that depends & desc directory don't exist in
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/docbook-xsl-1.74.0-1/
So after trying everything (synchronizing database, etc out of which nothing worked) I deleted this directory and now am stuck with pacman doing weird things.

Re: Some Problem with Pacman

I solved it. I had to force the refresh using -Syy instead of just -Sy.
Somehow the sync database files had gotten deleted.
