Cannot log in via SLiM

Hi!

When I enter username & password (i am using SLiM login manager), SLiM throws me back at login page. I checked slim.log and each login attempt ends with following error:

(EE) Failed to load module "record" (module does not exist, 0)

I think it refers to following lines in my xorg.conf

Section "Module"
   Load "record"
   Load "dri2"
   Load "dri"
   Load "extmod"
   Load "dbe"
   Load "glx"
EndSection

How can I fix the errors?

Thanks in advance,

-skazhy

Can you start X without using SLiM?

Is this a new install or has it been working before? Did you do an update recently?

I know it's a little unrelated but, do you need an "xorg.conf" file at all? Does it work if you just remove it?

*facepalm* I'm ashamed of myself big_smile
The .xinitrc was not in my home directory, thanks n0dix for reminding to check that!
now all works fine.
