Re: MC-MP moved to AUR.. WHY? [solved]

and this is a problem because? mc-mp is at version 4.1.40, apparently released in august 2004 so seriously unmaintained by it's author. you can still build it ofcourse, but i can understand why a package like that would be moved from the official repos (if that was the reason).

Re: MC-MP moved to AUR.. WHY? [solved]

I'd guess the fact that mc is being actively developed and maintained was a factor in the decision also.

Check the arch-dev-public ML archives, you'll probably find a mention.

When you say maintained you mean upstream right?
Cause phrakture has never really maintained the Arch package. Last person who dealt with it was Snowman aading some patches years ago and that was before it was even considered maitained upstream again.
mc is a sub-version behind and latest versions probably solve most of the open bug reports in the flyspray as among many other things it has native utf-8 support and deals great with i18n.
Maybe someone else should consider picking it up?

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Re: MC-MP moved to AUR.. WHY? [solved]

Hmm.. As I'm the one that moved it, I'll shed some light on the subject. mc-mp was not in extra, it was in community. I removed it from community because as has been mentioned, it was out of date and the source wouldn't build anymore. Anyone who wants to update it, feel free.

Ghost1227. I have switched to mc-colorer. I  hope that one is going to stick around

Re: MC-MP moved to AUR.. WHY? [solved]

You should try the current upstream mc release, 4.7.0.1. Running fine here.

Yes i know. It was merely a some sort of introduction to my post. smile
Its quite weird that even though nowadays there are many bug days, as well as many (mostly new) developers  building other peoples packages,  noone bothered with mc. It has many bugs opened plus like i  said before its been out of date for almost a year.
It seems people dont use it much nowadays.
