When I click on reboot or shut down from the Lancelot (ver. 1.7) plasmoid in KDE 4.3.4 nothing happens; however log out does work. When I shut down my computer I have to do it from a terminal with root priviledges. Is it a permission problem possibly?

Some days ago, I switch from GDM to SLiM, and had the same problem.
The reason was I wasn't starting my Openbox Session with ck-launch-session.
I mean, in my .xinitrc I had "exec dbus-launch openbox-session", and sould have "exec ck-launch-session openbox-session".
You must be using KDM, so, I thin that must be covered, but, check anyway, in '/usr/share/xsessions/kde.desktop', in the line that starts with "Exec=", if "startkde4" is preceded by "ck-launch-session".
The .desktop file path, could be wrong, so don't expect for an exact match, but a similar.
Hope I helped you.
See you

Unfortunately that didn't work.
I wonder if maybe it has something to so with permissions? If I click on the reboot button in Lancelot I'm doing it as a non-superuser. When I reboot within a terminal I have to use sudo. Only thing I can think of but even if that's right I don't know how to fix it.

So bad I didn't helps you. It's exactly the same behavior I had some days ago, it could be related in some way.
Well sorry, I tried to help.
