[SOLVED] Recovery root password from BootLoader

Hi,
I read some documentations They say I can change root password, cause I forget it hmm booting as Single mode user.
So I append at the end of the grub kernel line the word "single".
When then I boot the line modified it tells me to insert the root password for Manteinence, in a lot a tutorial just say I'll have the bash with root provileges and then just type passwd to change it. Do I lost something?
I know I could boot with a live CD, but I have no cdrom on my box.

Thanks a lot

Cesare

[SOLVED]
I find instead of write single, just write "rw init=/bin/bash" and boot
