I've recently added a second monitor, and now unable to watch video files.
For my setup I have two monitors both rotated to portrait mode. In my xorg.conf I have a larger virtual screen. I'm using xrandr to rotate both screens and slide one over into the virtual space.
Most applications work fine. But video, whether I use mplayer or vlc, is screwed up. The video plays "sideways" that is, as if the screen were in landscape mode, when it is actually in portrait. Not only that, mplayer and vlc bring up a window in the proper orientation. So the dimension of the window is correct, say 16x9 while the video inside is 9x16, so only a portion of the sideways image can be seen.
I hope that explanation is somewhat clear. Is there any way I can get mplayer and vlc to realize the screen is rotated? Thanks.
