Hi all,
in these days I've finally taken in consideration to pass from ubuntu to archlinux to improve my linux skills, so I've decided to install on a vm archlinux x64 (from windows 7 ).
I've managed to install it (with core iso ) without any problem but when I've rebooted and started trying to update my sistem using pacman -Syu after some minutes the output was:
:: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed retrieving file 'core.db.tar.gz' from locke.suu.edu : Connection timed out
error: failed to update core (Connection timed out)
error: failed retrieving file 'extra.db.tar.gz' from locke.suu.edu : Connection timed out
error: failed to update extra (Connection timed out)
error: failed retrieving file 'community.db.tar.gz' from locke.suu.edu : Connection timed out
error: failed to update community (Connection timed out)
error failed to synchronize any databases
I've tried also changing many mirrors editing /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist using mirrors taken on the list of active ones but nothing changed, I've even tried to ping www.google.com but everything looked ok...:(

Are you sure you've set VMware to access network?
Also copy/paste ping here so that we can see if it really is OK...

Pacman always tries the first mirror listed so try changing the order and then running pacman -Syy.

I'm not decommenting servers in mirrorlist , I'm just adding on top of the file on of them not to make a mess when I've to edit it again...
btw I've tried with -Syy and the output is the same as before...:/

Can you post your mirrorlist please (just the entries that you are trying to use, rather than all of the commented ones).
