Toshiba Satellite L300 with Inside >H2O BIOS. On first loading Arch some days ago this key (Fn), which enables special function keys such as backlight levels was working. Now it is not, and I have done no updates since. I actually noted this behaviour with Ubuntu some weeks ago on the same machine. I have tried "showkey" in a console and absolutely no scancode from this key whatsoever. Beginning to suspect a BIOS issue but if anyone has other ideas please let me know.

I had the same issue on Satellite A200 with Intel video onboard until I had KMS disabled.
For now, with KMS disabled and VGA mode 864 (for 1280x800), backlight keys are working properly.
