Hello,
I got a very strange problem. I cannot type my password in gnome login box anymore. I mean, when I try to type the password nothing gets typed, as if my keyboard wouldn't work. So I cannot log in. When I hit the caps lock the caplock light doesn't come up on the keyboard. Somehow the keyboard got disabled. The keyboard, otherwise, is ok because it works happily on other partitions.
Any idea, how to fix this.
Thanks,
jmak

How have you set up your keyboard? Manually in xorg.conf or using the hotplugging functionality? Does it get activated from boot (it works in grub menu)?

Are you sure your keyboard is plugged in correctly? Sometimes even just a slight bump or pull can disable the functionality (I actually just had my computer freeze up from that). You say it runs on the other partitions though...what do you have running on there?

I forgot to tell, that this happened after update. I had no problem before with the keyboard. And as I said, the keyboard is working fine with other distros.

Problem solved.
This is what was the problem. Before updating, I installed tor. Removing tor and privoxy from /etc/rc.conf DEMONS solved the problem. It seemed that tor interfered with the keyboard driver.

I would be interesting to understand how those daemons could be in conflict with each other.
