Unable to Install Arch on Server Blade

I have a Dell server (Power Edge 1850) blade that I am trying to install Arch Linux on. I have no problems installing / running Debian, CentOS, or Ubuntu on this hardware but when I try to boot from Arch CD (2009.08 Netinst or Core), I get an error:

Waiting for boot device...
Error: Boot device didn't show up after 30 seconds...
Falling back to interactive prompt.
You can try and fix the problem manually, log out when you're finished.

Shot in the dark, but have you tried the isolinux image instead?

archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.

Re: Unable to Install Arch on Server Blade

1. Have you checked the md5sum of the image? Try reburning the CD.
2. Have you tried booting the usb img instead? (I see that Power Edge 1850 can connect to an external flash drive).

Re: Unable to Install Arch on Server Blade

I checked the md5sum on the image and it worked on other systems fine. I did not try the USB image. Just the 'netinst' and 'core' iso builds both fail the same. I even had the same failure on a home made system I built from Newegg.com.

sad

Re: Unable to Install Arch on Server Blade

I have had problems like that with the latest image - don't ask why. Curiously enough with one of the older images (both USB stick and CD-R) I have no problems whatsoever.

Thanks for that interesting note. Maybe it's a bug that will be fixed with the next version...I hope!

Re: Unable to Install Arch on Server Blade

Amazingly I have contacted Dell & they simply have no idea how to make their own system boot from USB flash drive. So sad. I will keep trying...

Re: Unable to Install Arch on Server Blade

This appears to be a bug in 2009.08 if anyone has the same issue...

I am hoping they get this fixed soon.
