Re: 2.6.32 - works well vs not usable

Thank you. I tried to downgrade kernel-headers and firmware too. That's why I had those dependencies troubles

Re: 2.6.32 - works well vs not usable

rt2860 not working very well on my Eee PC 901. Well, it does work initially, but connection is randomly lost and after sleeping the interface is broken. Video is broken too (flickering, p*ss poor performance, won't reinitialize properly after sleep - I have to drop to a regular console and then switch back to VT7 to get it to work).

So basically it's too much of a hazzle for everyday use. Quality is apparently not getting better with regards to these issues at least, so it's 2.6.31.6-1 for me.

Re: 2.6.32 - works well vs not usable

from my upgrade I cannot access my laptop (with intel 855gm integrated video card) without disabling KMS and only in console mode (no more X for me).
I had to downgrade.

Well, I'm on eeepc 901 as well, and have better experience.
First, no trouble with sleep and wake-up - everything works fine, except video flickering, anyway it seems to be fixed by adding "i915.powersave=0" to grub's menu.lst.

Cant say much about rt2860, because I'm not an active wifi user.
Anything else work fine, including early kms+plymouth.

Re: 2.6.32 - works well vs not usable

On eeepc framebuffer works since 2.6.32.
Unfortunately in 2.6.32-4 is still this bug where after suspend to ram the screen sometimes flickers and sometimes goes unrecoverable blank (unless you reboot).

Re: 2.6.32 - works well vs not usable

I have a strange problema after upgrading to 2.6.32. X runs perfect, no problem at all, but when switching to console tty1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1) I have to type twice the key to get it typed, but not always... very strange. I think is no problem with the keyboard because it runs perfect on gnome desktop. It's just when going to tty. Of course I cannot then type fast because half of the keys or more are not typed.

Any ideas? I'm not using any kind of framebuffer at all, just normal tty1 80x25. I'm using nvida drivers, and i have a nvida Gforce 7300, but i think this information is useless because on tty the driver nvidia is not used, just in X, and in X runs ok.

thanks

I too seem to be having these issues.  Everything works just fine in my X environment, but in a tty, some keypresses randomly don't work the first time.  It makes it really fun to try to login.  tongue  If I ssh to my computer from another one, I can type just fine.
