I don't have 3D here, even with mesa-full
If it continues, I'll install Fedora to the laptop.
What packages are installed?
Errors in Xorg log? in dmesg?

Also, run:
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxinfo

I need i686... Compiling... Why do the pkgbuilds always download everything?
Anyway: Here it is:

edit: Ok, with mesa full 3D works but if I enable KMS X still will freeze the machine. Actually onle the screen goes black and when I try to change to console it freezes.
Does KMS work with 2.6.33?
Syslog is not really helping.

Got it from less because no text editor would show it and piping it into a file does not work either.

mesa-full here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/87650/forum_pos … pkg.tar.gz
No patches applied or anything. Straight from AUR.
I think you should also provide your libdrm-git because mesa is linked against it.

I use the one from the nightly repo mentionend in the first post.
If versions change too much, exactly this one: http://omploader.org/vM2MzbA

I have just a little question that I have just thought.
I have just tried CS1.6 (with wine so), and when I tried to launch, the output is :
err:winediag:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Direct rendering is disabled, most likely your OpenGL drivers haven't been installed correctly
X Error of failed request: GLXBadDrawable
and glxinfo is good.
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R600 (RV770 944A) 20090101 TCL DRI2
OpenGL version string: 2.0 Mesa 7.8-devel
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.10
It needs lib32 librairies? I have lib32-libgl by example, it needs others packages?
Like lib32-ati-dri-git, lib32-libgl-git and lib32-libdrm-git?
Edit : it's good it needs lib32-ati-dri-git, lib32-libgl-git and lib32-libdrm-git.

CS1.6 run normally, but error still here:
err:winediag:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Direct rendering is disabled, most likely your OpenGL drivers haven't been installed correctly
And some other win32 games is not run, like Heroes V.

Not for me. But in game, all each 5 sec, it blocks few millisecondes.

Hey guys,
I'm on
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R600 (RV710 954F) 20090101 x86/MMX+/3DNow!+/SSE2 TCL DRI2
OpenGL version string: 2.0 Mesa 7.8-devel
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.10
GLapps like Google earth are running fine. Now I tried
Steam's Portal. Starting it fails with the message that
I need at least pixel shader 1.1.
I just want to make sure, that it is not implemented in
mesa or xf86-video-ati, is it?

Read the posts above. You need the 32bit libs if you want to run wine (cause it is 32bit ).
Offline
I don't get it. Thought 32 bit libs are only necessary for x64?!

Oh, sorry, i thought you are running a x64 system.

So 2.6.33-rc5 has been out for a few days now and it brakes ATI KMS for me. The laptop hangs when trying to load X. I think this bug report and the patches are the relevant ones. Has anyone gotten rc5 to work ok? Has anyone applied these patches?
Offline
Try kernel26-git instead of the rc. These patches are already applied in git.

Yes, for me it works with KMS etc...

Ok. I generally seem to have better luck using the zen patched kernel versions of 2.6.33, but the problem I reported above was when using kernel26zen-git from AUR, which as far as I understand atm applies the latest zen patches to rc5. I do not know if that packages applies the relevant patches, but I I saw that kernel26-zen-next does. I will try that one and, as you suggest, the "clean" git package.
Offline
This merge applied the patches to gitl. And that was just 13 hours ago.
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/g … 82e7fe0921
As you can see only rc5 is too old.

With mesa-split package 3D not work. But with mesa-full all ok.
Problem in ati-dri-git from mesa-split.
mesa-full:

2897809 bytes r300_dri.so
2861815 bytes r600_dri.so

ati-dri-git (mesa-split):
491807 bytes r200_dri.so
396703 bytes r300_dri.so
404448 bytes r600_dri.so

Yup. kernel26-git works great, including suspend/resume.
Can the power management patches be applied to the git version of the radeon module?

I am not able to get wine working with kms enabled, but I am able to without it. Is this to be expected. I am running kernel 2.6.33rc5 with libdrm-git, glproto-git, dri2proto-git, mesa-full and xf86-video-ati-git. I have the lib32 stack required to get wine to run on x86_64. I get the same message mentioned a several times prior to this post. I am just curious. It is a bit annoying turning off kms at boot to run these games, but it works perfectly. Thanks for the thread.

exiquio: I have it running fine with KMS
your LIB32 files are probably out of date.. Make sure you have version parity between the GIT libraries you use and the LIB32 ones.
I use the LIB32 libraries listed in AUR that get their files from the NIGHTLY repo that some people are using for their other libraries.

Does suspend and resume work with KMS for you ?

I've tried today's git and it doesn't work at all. Hard locks on glxgears and yellow artifacts in kwin

I have just tried (today) PM patches to the git version, and it works for me.
