I've checked the man pages for Openbox and done a Google search and not come up with anything.
I'm looking to auto-start some programs upon login in Openbox, and I want certain programs to open on certain desktops. For instance, I want my music player (Sonata) to open (fullscreen) on desktop 2, and a fullscreen IRC on desktop 3.
Does anyone if and how this can be accomplished?

For autostart, use this in your .xinitrc file:
exec ck-launch-session openbox-session
and use ~/config/openbox/autostart.sh to start the programs you want at startup. Don't forget to put a & at the end of each line, like:
firefox &

Just to make things clearer. The instruction to force a desktop for a given application is the
<desktop>#number#</desktop>
where "#number#" is to be replaced by the desktop number wanted.
To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.
