it's japanese or chinese (as far as I know japanese uses some chinese characters)
but since a translator doesn't recognise any of the signs when translating from japanese I think it's chinese

I love ArchLinux too, it's the only OS on all of my home pc/laptops.

It support Chinese perfectly, and it's fast and light, after install Xorg and fluxbox, it's still just take less than about 1GB

But I don't think it will be widely spread in China, because most of the documents are still in English, and most of the Chinese still headache when they read English,
I've put a lot of spare time on wiki recently, to translate more articles to Chinese, hope it helps slowly.

If Arch wants to be successful in China, It should have to offer:
a gui installation within Chinese;
a hot users' forum maintained by Chinese;
a Chinese based wiki, arch wiki is great, however English is a little bitter to lots of Chinese users;
a localized aur which contains softwares in Chinese localization optimized.
more fast and up-to-date mirrors for update.

GUI的安装环境不太符合K.I.I.S原则吧?那样该的话不就成了Ubuntu了吗?
维基百科上已经有很多中文的文章了。
升级镜像站点的话,国内比较快的有网易、搜狐之类。

由于国内环境问题,许多人根本不知道什么是linux,Ubuntu大概也是近几年才开始流行的,至少之前我是没听过。Arch linux想要普及,只能先等linux知识较为普及以后吧。

I totally agree with your words, but don't you think the localized resources of Arch are still much less than Windows even than Ubuntu? However, maybe accepting by every computer users isn't the first priority of Arch, but to keep a balance between lightweight and user friendly is really an art work.

我大概從 2004~2005 就用 arch 到現在. 並不適用於初學者. 尤其是不能讀寫英文的人.
在中國要有前景, 應該要有中國化的版本. 有類似 mint or ubuntu 的社群, 幫忙設定好預設值. 才能普及起來吧!
原始的 ArchLinux 比較適合玩家用.
