[solved (mostly)] breakage during routine system upgrade

I ran an update half an hour ago and my laptop's in a big mess, now. Here's the error output:

I can't understand why the same error is repeated so many times, or why if I try running the upgrade again, the same errors occur.

I did a  "sudo pacman -Scc" and tried again. Exact same error. I tried 'mkdir' and 'touch' '/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/mono-zeroconf-0.9.0-1/desc'; both times I got the same error (pacman actually removes this file itself!).

I'm running 64-bit arch and my Server = ftp://mirrors.xmission.com/archlinux/$repo/os/x86_64. Please help; I only wanted to install git

edit: I suppose it's worth mentioning that I originally ran the "-Syu" using the powerpill interface. It was able to download all of the deps but the same zeroconf issue was there.

edit 2: thanks, anonymous_user. I'm enjoying git goodness now. I'll marked this as solved, though I'm still curious as to why pacman's behavior was so strange..

Try using a different mirror and running pacman -Syy.

It is the mirror. I was having the exact same problem, removing the mirror and resyncing fixed it.

This is kind of a big issue, means that entire mirror is broken.

This same thing happen to me also today and I just removed the mirror it was the Pacific one cannot remember it exactly.
