Instead of dcron, vixie-cron has more features. And many distros choose vixie-cron as their default cron daemon.
I want to know why arch dev team don't use vixie-cron? Thanks ![]()

Because of KISS?
It's in AUR anyhow...

We are probably going to fcron: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16085

So, is fcron better than vixie-cron?

You seem to be the expert on vixie-cron... fcron can also do the job of anacron so probably yes.

I'm not an expert, hehe.
I had a look at fcron's manual, it aims at replacing vixie cron, great.
It's pretty cool, if it does do both the jobs of vixie-cron and anacron, hmm

I had to go to fcron when vixie-cron was having problems in Gentoo. Worked good and updates did fine.

+1 for fcron.
I do use it for several years now and had no problem with it.
To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.

I vote for vixie-cron unless the fcron package will be configured to support /etc/cron.d/ by default. That means (iirc) using a wrapper script running running every minute, checking for updates in /etc/cron.d/* and merging them to /etc/crontab.

This is already done in the fcron AUR package (recently downgraded to unsuspported, sadly)
