Hey guys,
having few issue mounting HFSplus as read/write from external usb drive.

I think journaled hfsplus filesystems are still not much usable in Linux (it wasn't when I was battling with it a couple of years ago), but you can use them without journaling.
You can refer to this article from the fine Gentoo folks. hfsprogs is available in the AUR.

Disable journaling.

Apologies for raising a dead post, but I have disabled journaling on HFS+ Mac OS X drive and it still mounts as read-only. One time, it mounted at boot as read-write, but since then, that has not been the case. I've looked around the forums and checked out solutions from other Linux distros, but so far, I haven't found any simple answers that don't require the use of a number of extra tools that I'd rather not deal with. If anyone has seen this problem before and knows a simple fix, please let me know!
Thanks for any help,
Rob

Since this shows up in forum searches:
You can't write without disabling journalling first. In OS X this is
sudo diskUtil disableJournal /dev/disk0s1 //replace with the partition you want to disable on
If journalling is disabled but it is mount readonly still make sure you have rw in your mount options and not ro.
If it is STILL mounting readonly (or it mounted once readwrite but won't anymore) you have an error on the filesystem, probably from power loss or the like.
Either boot up OS X and run
sudo diskUtil repairVolume /Volumes/[yourvolume]
Or install hfsprogs and hfsutils from the AUR and run
fsck.hfsplus /dev/sda1 //replace sda1 as appropriate
And reboot, or remount with rw.

You need hfsprogs from teh AUR for r/w capabilities for hfs+. Though the above responses about journaling are correct, I just want to add one thing. You can actually write to a journaled HFS+ device from Linux. You just have to mount it "r/w,force" and it should go.
I have used this in the past. The source of info, which I cannot remember or find now, told me that there were risks of data coruption. I thought, "Whatever.... I'm gonna do it because I live on the f*cking edge!" For a while it worked, and it worked pretty well. But then one day.... OSX was totally borked!
So I'd like to add that you should only mount r/w with journaling on if absolutely necessary. For example, if you might need to change a single parameter in rEFInd conf to get OSX to boot or something, that is probably a safe thing to do. But mounting it r/w all the time, is no bueno. Besides, I am not sure that hfsprogs can actually do anything with the journaling anyway, so there are justa bunch of missing entries if you mount r/w like this.
