A stupid question from somebody who doesn't use tiling wms - what's a scratchpad at your screenshot?

It's the floating terminal. I only use the scratchpad as a way to do drop-down terminal (what yakuake/guake/tilda do), although I'm sure there are much cooler use of it. The scratchpad normally appears at a smaller size and a better position, but then I can't show off my -thing- like this lol

Ask anrxc for more on scratchpad -- he's an addict --

Nothing really changed, showing my progress untill now in pimping firefox (credits go to weakhead for the tips).

Need some assistance though. I have found a userstyle which removes the favicon of the active search-engine in the searchbox, but as you can see in the screenshot the arrow to open the dropbox for selecting another search-engine doesn't fit in the picture.

Here the userstyle:

/* Hide the search engine favicon */
#searchbar .searchbar-engine-image {
  width: 0 !important;
  padding-left: 18px !important;
  margin-left: -15px !important;
  background: transparent
}

nobody can beat that, sorry guys smile
im using vanilla kde3 from the old kde3 repo, with a lot of cheap workarounds to get it running.

if not that im using screen+kms-X, I find X in general to be obtrusive, maybe lich knows what I mean.

I've nothing against X nowadays...if you would have asked this 2 years ago, I'd have told you to shove it (X, not your general opinions). Ah....the good old framebuffer days...

urxvt has a perl extension for this - kuake

       Whenever the user presses a global accelerator key (by default
       "F10"), the terminal will show or hide itself. Another press of the
       accelerator key will hide or show it again.

Ring Meters by londonali1010 (2009)

This script draws percentage meters as rings. It is fully customisable; all options are described in the script.

IMPORTANT: if you are using the 'cpu' function, it will cause a segmentation fault if it tries to draw a ring straight away. The if statement on line 145 uses a delay to make sure that this doesn't happen. It calculates the length of the delay by the number of updates since Conky started. Generally, a value of 5s is long enough, so if you update Conky every 1s, use update_num > 5 in that if statement (the default). If you only update Conky every 2s, you should change it to update_num > 3; conversely if you update Conky every 0.5s, you should use update_num > 10. ALSO, if you change your Conky, is it best to use "killall conky; conky" to update it, otherwise the update_num will not be reset and you will get an error.

To call this script in Conky, use the following (assuming that you save this script to ~/scripts/rings.lua):
    lua_load ~/scripts/rings-v1.2.1.lua
    lua_draw_hook_pre ring_stats

Changelog:
+ v1.2.1 -- Fixed minor bug that caused script to crash if conky_parse() returns a nil value (20.10.2009)
+ v1.2 -- Added option for the ending angle of the rings (07.10.2009)
+ v1.1 -- Added options for the starting angle of the rings, and added the "max" variable, to allow for variables that output a numerical value rather than a percentage (29.09.2009)
+ v1.0 -- Original release (28.09.2009)
]]

        -- Edit this table to customise your rings.
        -- You can create more rings simply by adding more elements to settings_table.

Re: January 2010 Screenshots

here's my desktop, Tranquil and relaxing..
While we are on the subject of desktops/wallpapers, I was wondering if i set individual actions for each desktop so its a slideshow for EACH desktop, will that use alot of memory/resourses? causing any slowdowns?
i have 4 gigs ram, no swap file, and  triplecore 64bit 2.1ghz, thanks for any responses..
(or is there some setting somewhere to set priority for each desktop switching pictures for a slideshow on each?)
thanks..

here's my desktop

Two days old installation, the Pidgin-icon pretty much sucks.

BMPanel2 now has pager ^^
I've managed to integrate Conky with BMPanel2 by setting it (Conky) as a dock/panel

I don't know if you posted your bmpanel theme config yet, but could you please tell me exactly how you got conky to run in bmpanel2? Or better: show me the code, please? I have been looking all over for a way to get that done. I somehow knew that you can have conky within bmpanel2. What about other stuff like wbar or something like that? Would that work in there too?

I believe you need to have conky set above all windows and run bmpanel on top of it. I haven't tried that, but hey, that's how I would attempt it.

Here's a conkyrc snippet to make it stay above all windows, like a taskbar:

own_window yes
own_window_transparent no
own_window_hints undecorated,below,skip_taskbar
own_window_type override

im using vanilla kde3 from the old kde3 repo, with a lot of cheap workarounds to get it running.

if not that im using screen+kms-X, I find X in general to be obtrusive, maybe lich knows what I mean.

Ah, KDE3.....'tis was a fine DE
