I've installed Ardour and imported a wav file. I can see the VU meters light up in response to the audio but I can't hear anything.
I'm really not sure where to start looking for a solution. I've already tried every channle in the XFCE4 mixer.
Details:
Arch x86_64
Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP72XE/MCP72P/MCP78U/MCP78S High Definition Audio (rev a1)
Seen as: HDA NVidia (Alsa Mixer) by the XFCE4 Sound Mixer.
Any help would be great,
Thanks

Is jack installed / started (for example with qjackctl)?
Offline
you need to install qjackctl and configure it for your input and output (microphone and speakers)
without qjackctl you cannot use ardour

What the others said.
qjackctl is an awesome app but it can be a little confusing for new users. Good luck!

Well I've got qjackctl installed and it's connected to Ardour
and they're both running and communicating, still no Audio...
I'll guess I'll keep fiddling and search for a tutorial, this whole Jack interface-thing is really alien to me.
I've been spoiled with Cubase and I really disliked Audacity, Ardour looks very promising.

Ardour is Pro.... but it can get a bit confusing using jack coming from windows.....
As long as you configure qjackctl with the correct input/output... (try them all if your not sure) then it should work.....
is your mic working? are you able to record anything in any other app? like audacity?
