CD/DVD/Floppy

Ok, so I guess you can say im a newb here because I simply cannot open my CD Drive, Floppy Drive or the DVD Drive through Gnome in the "My Computer".

My user is in the optical group but when I try to open my Floppy Drive I get this:

Unable to mount the selected volume.
mount: mount point /mnt/fl does not exist

and My CD Drive:

Unable to mount the selected volume.
mount: mount point /mnt/cd does not exist

and my DVD Drive:

Unable to mount the selected volume.
mount: mount point /mnt/cd does not exist

Pretty much the same as my CD Drive (its one drive but my CD Drive is a DVD burner)...

Any ideas would be great - thanks.

Re: CD/DVD/Floppy

If the directories /mnt/fl and /mnt/cd doesn't exist, create them as root. Then try again.

Re: CD/DVD/Floppy

AWESOME! thanks... since the DVD rom does pretty much the same thing, is there a way to get the DVD drive icon out of my Computer place? When I click it it says:

Unable to mount the selected volume.

mount: /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 already mounted or /mnt/cd busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd is already mounted on /mnt/cd

Re: CD/DVD/Floppy

If you have a separated dvd and a separated cd drive, then you may need to edit you /etc/fstab accordingly.

Browse the /dev directory to see how your dezvices are named.
