Looking through the wiki... I'm not so sure this worked yet, but it seems to have done something...

Then you can use the intel driver like before but the console will have low resolution.
This fixes nothing for me. It simply makes it so my X server wont start at all..

I had the module in mkinitcpio because I installed Arch when intel KMS was not default.
Are you saying without it X does not start with KMS disabled?

Yes, when I put that line in the menu.lst and kdm starts it dumps me to a blinking cursor.
