Re: [SOLVED]screen flashes once in a while,

Looking through the wiki... I'm not so sure this worked yet, but it seems to have done something...

"Add the intel_agp and i915 modules to the MODULES line in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf"
From this page: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel

I'm not 100% certain it fixed it yet. I'll let you know tomorrow after I test it some more.

Re: [SOLVED]screen flashes once in a while,

Good sign... It's been 5 minutes, and no screen flashes.

Add the i915.modeset=0 to /boot/grub/menu.lst

kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/0f756665-5129-484a-b746-35e3b7858888 ro i915.modeset=0

Then you can use the intel driver like before but the console will have low resolution.

This fixes nothing for me. It simply makes it so my X server wont start at all..
Crap, why did he have to label this thread "[SOLVED]"... Because it's not for me.

My video card is an Intel 945GME Revision 03.

He maybe made it solved because his problem was solved and it is his thread.

I had the module in mkinitcpio because I installed Arch when intel KMS was not default.
Are you saying without it X does not start with KMS disabled?

Re: [SOLVED]screen flashes once in a while,

Yes, when I put that line in the menu.lst and kdm starts it dumps me to a blinking cursor.
