as a non root user i invoke "set" command after that when i tried to login as root or invoking sudo bash replies
sudo :unknown user:root
plz help that i can login as root.

Is root in /etc/passwd? If it is, what happens when you do 'su root' ?
Good ideas do not need lots of lies told about them in order to gain public acceptance.

thanxz..........my prob is solved by myself...yep prob is in /etc/passwd ..using system recused live cd,i edited the file and it starts recognizing root.
