Nothing shows up. Anybody having the same problem?

Yep, same here...

Try to downgrade to Soprano 2.3.73
Offline
Just tried a new user, and it is not working, either.
And one more problem, I am not able to lock my screen. I don't know where to look for the error of this thing.
I wonder what has been changed since RC3. Honestly, RC3 works better for me.
Offline
Soprano 2.3.73 works fine.

i also have an error, when i launch krunner from konsole this is the output:
[ozeta@dolphin ~/]$ krunner
<unknown program name>(9418)/: Communication problem with "krunner" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." "

Same here. No backtrace, no crash report, no nothing. It just sits there silently if started directly from a terminal. gdb doesn't report anything unusual either. I have disabled all kinds of semantic desktop, no akonadi, no nepomu, no strigi. I'd really like my ALT-F2 back .

http://bugs.archlinux.org/ anyone?
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I have the same issue. I cannot launch Dolphin, krunner and probably few more. I also cannot launch KMail with "Cannot find the D-Bus session" error. RC3 was working perfectly though.

Well of course my good sir: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18263
Offline
OK folks, I've reported this on arch bugtracker, you can find my report here

What version of soprano are you all using? Krunner didn't work with 2.4, but after downgrading to 2.4.73 it was fine again after restart.

That is likely related to you not running Nepomuk. Start Nepomuk and try again. It does not appear to be the cause for krunner not starting though since krunner also won't do anything even then Nepomuk is running.

the bugs were closed because they are outdated?!

You were right about the KMail, but even if I launch nepomuk (I have no idea why it wasn't running in the first place) I'm stuck with the problem caused by soprano version mismatch. I have soprano 2.4.0, could it be that KDE 4,4 was compiled against the old version?
Offline
soprano 2.4.0 is current, what version mismatch are you talking about?
Offline
Well, there are people who say that after downgrading to soprano 2.3.73 KDE 4.4 works just fine. I haven't tried it myself though...
Offline
I just ran into this, and went back to previous soprano version (2.3.73). then per announcement:
# If you update from virtuoso 5 as nepomuk backend as it was provided in
the kde-unstable or testing repository you will have to convert your database (http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php?content=119661) or simply remove
~/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk/repository/main/data/virtuosobackend. The latter
is of course only recommend if you had not used nepumuk's tagging and comment features.# In case of any error, try using a new user account or (re)moving KDE's
configuration which can be found at ~/.kde4 /tmp/kde-* /var/tmp/kdecache-*.
Akonadi saves its data at ~/.config/akonadi and ~/.local/share/akonadi
I shutdown kde/kdm (/etc/rc.d/kdm stop)
removed both virtuosobackend and the akonadi files (didnt move the configuration).
upgraded to soprano 2.40 (yaourt -Sy soprano)
restarted dbus/hal (/etc/rc.d/hal restart)
restarted kdm, and everything seems to be working again

Somehow that all doesn't do the trick for me. Neither downgrading soprano or removing my configuation as suggested by toxygen can make krunner work again.
The current bug report (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18260) doesn't seem to address krunner either.

I updated the system here again (with new kdelibs and soprano), and dolphin won't start. I downgraded soprano and kdelibs again (I had the kde-unstable kde before) and dolphin is OK.

Can you other guys actually make krunner start again at all or is the downgrading soprano stuff just for kmail/dolphin?
Offline
As I said, (probably not so clear), downgrading soprano makes krunner works for me just fine.

i just got the same error:
<unknown program name>(2000)/: Communication problem with "krunner" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." "
this is strange because it was working earlier today.

Yay, fixed with new version of soprano 2.3.73-2

krunner is not working for me in soprano 2.4, downgrading brings it back. but with soprano 2.4 (after restarting hal/dbus) i am able to load all the other programs.
