Hi there im using KDE 4.4 SC (Final was released today) and it seems like i have a bug since the last xorg update
Is there a way to use the stable xorg or am i forced to use the developement Version.
pacman tells me that i have
xorg-server 1.7.4.901-1
installed and x.org tells me
1.7.1 is stable

welcome to the bleeding edge ![]()
if you would like to try older versions of sofware you can get them here
afterwords, make sure to edit your pacman.conf to ignore these packages, or else you'll be back to the latest version
on your next update.

i always thought bleeding edge means "latest stable version" but that recent xorg is an developement version ![]()

Well, that depends. Developers have differing ideas about what "stable" means, so the current version in Arch is sometimes a bit ahead (mplayer) and sometimes a bit behind (Python).

but what wrong with putting the dev-version of xorg in testing?

I'm sure it was in testing at some point. the purpose of the testing repository is for
admins and other users to test software that may be of questionable stability before
releasing it to the general community. therefore, the current xorg IS a stable release,
just not THE stable release from xorg.

And where do you get that it IS a stable version? .901 sounds not like an stable version Ö_Ö

1.7.4.901 is a release candidate from the stable branch. It contains accepted patches that will be in 1.7.5.
We're following the stable branch, not specifically stable versions.
