I have uninstalled kdemod completly as I have done pacman -Qs kdemod. I have migrated to kde as kdemod 4.4 is not released.
1)When I press the 'turn off computer button' the thing asking me if I want to turn off the laptop comes up but it does not shutdown when I press it.
2)Sound does not work (apart from system beep) kmix says I have an intel 82801DB-ICH4 sound WAS working before this upgrade. I have opened kmix and gnome-alsamixer. nothing is muted and all is on full including the master knob on the bottom of my computer.
3) positions and size of plasmoids do not save (as well as kmix levels) but I suspect this is because I have to shutdown inhumanly because of problem one.

You should be a lot more specific about what you did.

OK sorry. I was rushing.
I had started uninstalling kdemod by my self using pacman -R kdemod
Then I found it on the chakra wiki and did it the way mentioned here
http://chakra-project.org/wiki/index.ph … all_KDEmod
I did that then installed kde using pacman -S kde and it appeared to go smoothly.
I have now tried using alsaconf to configure my sound card but still no joy. I have no idea of how to troubleshoot the powerbutton problem.
Also using qt styles in firefox results in glitchy tabs.
EDIT: orbit hopper (a cool game) says Could not initialize sound: No available audio device

I am getting REALLY annoyed with this power button issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

Ok I will try to remove kde and switch back. I will see if that helps.

Those things now work but I have switched to network manager and it still wants wicd at start-up. I have removed it from the daemons array in rc.conf. Why does kdemod still want it?
