Hi,
I use KDE4.4 with nvidia drivers. It's slower than kde 4.3
Do you know how to fix the problem ?
Thanks

I feel the same. You might want to try nvidia-beta, it is said to be faster with kde4.4. Though, satisfaction not guaranteed.

Only nvidia can fix this.

Ok, thanks. So, I'll try nvidia-beta. Do you know what appened ?

It's not (only) nvidia related.
On an integrated intel chip, kwin (4.4) effects ar a pain, while in 4.3 it was smooth.
I'd like to use compiz + emerald (kde4-window-decorator doesn't like oxygen decorations and with nitrogen window shadows are gone), but it appears to have problems with task manager (on the panel) when more task are grouped.
Ati users out there?

I think it's not just a nvidia-drivers problem. My KDE4.3 was fine, even with compositing.
Beta-drivers don't fix the problem very well.

I also have nvidia on board, but can't see any problems with it. Works just as smooth as KDE 4.3 did.. I think;)

I have a Nvidia graphic card too and the effects on KDE 4.4 are slower than KDE 4.3. :\

I had the same problem with a slow KWin, but this could be solved by changing two settings of oxygen, like it is described in this post: http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=2231
I hope this will help you.
There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.

I did that and nothing changed.

Did you reload your kwin with 'kwin -replace' in krunner (Alt-F2)? Otherwise the change won't be applied. If this doesn't help: Which chip of NVidia do you own?

I use the proprietary Nvidia drivers. I don't have KMS.

Hm, I unfortunately have a GT250, so I can't say if this is a nvidia-related bug or if this is a problem in your KDE-settings.
Edit: Typo
