Looks like the new unrar has only just been released. Just wait for your mirrors to sync.

3 posts in about 6 minutes... and do you really think that putting more question marks in your posts will help?
Unrar has just been updated and you should just wait patiently till mirrors sync.

im sorry between the stress of breaking a system multiple times, trying to understand how to read the mirrrors, changing them around, losing the use of my printer even though there's a pkgbuild for it, but it fails to build and ive done EVERYTHING bout 10x the wiki says..
and all the "read the wiki" or "you aint ready for arch yet" "go back to windows" in archlinux irc chat.. it's been extremely stressfull just getting this up and running..... is bleeding edge and one extra second less boot time and stability (where i see lil difference) worth it?
again, sorry I posted

I didn't mean to sound rude. You can check mirrors status here:
https://www.archlinux.de/?page=MirrorStatus
BTW You haven't really described your problem, as i understand you can't update because packages are missing on mirrors (am i right?). If so the best solution is to give mirrors some time to sync or switch to another which has just synced (you can check that by using the link above).
Offline
i checked there.. and put them in the approp order..
ill just wait.. sorry for my rudeness, tone of font (tone of voice) ive been using linux for 5 years, 3 years full time.. but always the "hand holding ones" installed slack 2x, gentoo only 1 time.. kubuntu /mint.. etc.. learning more and more every day.. every distro.. again, sorry for the attitude.. i'll work on it..

I believe this refers to the version which was downloaded. I had this happen so I merely chose 'y'. Then the upgrade failed gracefully and I tried it again after a few minutes and it was able to successfully download the package and perform the upgrade. It might just be that the mirror only had a partial copy of the file on the server when you downloaded it?

Nobody but you can answer that. It's clear Arch is a steep learning curve for you, and your "OMG-why-doesn't-this-work???????" attitude is not helping you. Tone down the indignation, take plenty of time to read the recommended docs, be patient with yourself and anyone who's kind enough to help you, and be prepared for some setbacks along the way.
Regarding unrar, I've just installed unrar-3.9.8-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz here, and it works fine. I got it from the kernel.org mirror.

ive tried EVERY SINGLE MIRROR on MIRRORstatus's page for united states.. EVErY SINGLE one..
ive pacman -Syyu many many many times..
I get the above message, it d/l EVERYTHING above cept it d/ls the unrar then says its corrupted. i delete it (figured its the right thing to do) and it says NO pakages were upgraded..
It seems I'M THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS.. how can that be??? everyone has some additional mirrors that are synced???
how can archlinux.org NOT be synced with the "good" version instead of a corrupt one??
I'm not stupid, I'm not retarded, before anyone types it, ive READ the wiki, IVE read all the posts regarding kde 4.4., ive done everything I feel I know how to do.. so any , i mean ANY suggestions would be most appreciated..
i cant believe its' this much of a problem to update a system cause of one package...

try to delete manually any unrar files from /var/cache/pacman/pkg. that package is clearly on the mirrors.xmission.com server.

Post the output of "pacman -Si unrar" and "md5sum /var/cache/pacman/pkg/unrar-*".
The correct md5sum for unrar 3.9.8-1 is 9feaa8eed748828b34b2db2f9c1e052a
Here's a metalink for it. Use "aria2c -M unrar.metalink".

Most likely you got a corrupted download somehow (bad connection?). Mirrors rarely have corrupted files, sometimes files are missing but that's as far as it goes.
