can anyone point me to any dvd cover printing app for linux( similar to coverxp for windows)...? thanks!

You could run the program you use under windows in Wine.
the syntax is quite simple :
pacman -S wine
wine /path/to/program.exe
Anyway you point here to an area where it lacks a linux equivalent.

cdlabelgen may do it for you but I have no experience with it.

If DVDs are the same size as CDs, I suppose that would work.
(Aren't they the same size, just with smaller surface pits? Sorry, I wouldn't know... I've never been withing 10 feet of a DVD before. )

it doesnt matter if dvd's are the same size...i just need to make covers for the larger dvd cases (and not a label for the cd itself)

I would suggest you still take a look at cdlabelgen. Other than that you could search on freshmeat.net for a project that better suits your needs.

if you know the size of it, i would suggest to use gimp and sodipodi ... if you need some cool things, use blender, fyre and other things

what i do is download covers from www.cdcovers.cc and print them in the proper size so that i can just print and cut out the white borders, so that it fits perfectly in a cd case...thats what coverxp does..(stretches/shrinks the image to the right size).....is gimp and sodipodi enough for that?

Just Gimp would be enough, you can scale images with or without aspect ratios so you would be able to stretch or shrink an image to any size. i think its in image>resize, clicking on the chain-link enables/disables the aspect ratio for custom sizes.

Hi
I´ve made some templates with openoffice for normal DVD Covers and the 6Discs DVD Covers.
You can easily insert you scans or pictures in it and print.
It´s nearly the same as using Nero Cover Designer.

Hi
I don´t have webspace.
But I could send it to someone who has one. It´s rared only 22KB.
It also includes some cd covers, which are not from me, but freeware.
