Does anyone else have the problem of Firefox auto-starting under KDE 4.4, I noticed this on a clean install of Arch with KDE 4.4? As Firefox is normally the first app I fire up to test a new install, I tried it, worked fine, now whenever I log into KDE, Firefox starts up. the only way to keep this from happening is to go into system settings/session manager and start with a clean session. Any input welcomed.

What are the contents of ~/.kde4/Autostart, in addition to what is listed in System-Settings>Advanced>Autostart. Anything related to Firefox in there?

There's absolutely nothing in .kde4/Autostart and the only thing in System Settings/Autostart is gtk-qt-engine.rc.sh

Silly sounding question, because I'm stumped, are you quitting Firefox before logging out? I iz stumped.

Yes, I make sure I have quit each time it's happened. As for stumped, this reminds me of that problem way back in KDE 4.1 with kate restarting everytime you logged in.

Ok, I've narrowed it down, it's Firefox, it closes but is still running in the background. I have to kill it.

That was it sHyLoCK, I removed gtk-qt-engine and the problem went away, I'll mark this solved.

But removing gtk-qt-engine I lost qt uniform look for GTK applications (Pidgin for example).

Use gtk-chtheme.

Or even better - gtk-kde4, which does the same job as gtk-qt-engine.

Actually I don't think these gtk-qt-engine or gtk-kde4 did a good job because they seems use pixmap gtk engine to enumerate the QT engine (Sometimes ugly ). So I just use lxappearance to choose the gtk theme.
