Another month, another issue!
As promised, we are slowly working back towards releasing the monthly copy of Arch Linux Magazine on the first. This month I was only a few short hours off from my target time. On the flip side, this month we have a few new features (and one noticeably missing, sorry... it'll be back next month). Hopefully we'll be able to keep doing the new features and, over time, build ALM up to what I know it can be.
My sincerest thanks to those of you who continue to contribute, and for those of you who are interested in contributing in the future (or translating), we now have a wiki page designed specifically for you! As for those who are waiting for sources for translation, I haven't forgotten you and will be sending you the link in the morning... it's long past my bedtime.
And so, without further ado...

Looks good! I was surprised to see that I was the cover artist The only thing I noticed is that the magazine has "image temporarily unavailable" on the last page of my how-to (page 9). Not sure if that was meant to be, or if it's something you'll want to fix. Either way, I haven't forgotten about the Asus UL30A review yet, just haven't gotten around to it! It's on the plan for the next few days.
Great job, and congrats on becoming a member of the Dev team!

I've looked up the word schwag a while ago when I first came in contact with the store. Schwag would mean something like stuff or goods. In the urban dictionary you'll find it for bad marijuana.

If you're referring to the Desk Shot, it's my desk. The PDF has my name, but the text version doesn't seem to.
As for why...I always find it interesting to see what kind of environment people work in, simply because it can often make me feel better about mine Besides that, probably isn't much else to say for/against it. Similar to the Desk Shot thread on the forums, not too many people posted in it, but there were a few who were interested in it.

Indeed, but since Judd coined the word, and he's from BC, I'll have to assume it now means quality marijuana.

Whoever wrote your schwag article left a typo, "ISB" instead of "ISBN."
Also, google suggested that Mavigen should be Mavizen.

mh, I scrolled trough and thought: that wasn't worth 9mb. (why don't you compress the images ["optipng -o7" for png] and replace page 2 by a nice clean logo?)
9mb for 11 pages isn't lightweight

@Ghost1227 "that's why there's a html version" isn't the correct response to "the pdf is too big for 11pages"

are you sure? (i'm currently writing my diploma thesis and i have around 60pages + 20 optimized big pngs [around 1500x2000] - 2,9mb right now)

I think we really should trust him on that ...

On page 2 of the PDF-version there's grey background with the Arch logo on it. If anyone could point me to this wallpaper (preferably without the logo) that would be nice. I'd realy like to use it as my wallpaper.

It's not a wallpaper, it's a steel-ish texture created in gimp. However... search google or deviantart for steel texture/wallpapers and you'll find plenty of similar designs

The pdf looked pretty good, nice job. It opened pretty quick for me so size wasn't a big deal. Opened it up on my netbook too, just a split second slower, so no big deal.

What's the deal with the missing images on page 9?

What's the deal with the missing images on page 9?
It was intentional. I completed the html version, went to build the pdf and discovered that I had a small space with nothing to fill it. Unfortunately I was unable to get ahold of any of my artists. The missing image graphic was intended to get people to ask questions and, hopefully, convince a few more artists to step forward and offer their expertise. I need people willing to do spot graphics, icons, cover art, etc. If you're willing to step up, shoot me an email!

@Ghost1227: Regarding the artists, you can always send me an email with a request. I'm sure there are people out there with much more skill when it comes to graphic design, but I figure I can throw something together if you need.
