You can change the color of urxvt's tabs with the following .Xdefaults options:

URxvt.tabbed.tabbar-fg: 6
URxvt.tabbed.tabbar-bg: 16
URxvt.tabbed.tab-fg:    13
URxvt.tabbed.tab-bg:    16

(replacing my numbers with whatever colors you want)

Hm, is it just me? I'm getting 404's when i try to download that picture (apart from that your link doesn't work, but when i went to search and the name, came to the subpage of the creator of the pic and there is a menu for download in various sizes, but won't work).

i'm not sure what you mean?  the link just worked for me, you just have to select the size of the wallpaper you want, and it will bring it up for you.  Is anybody else having problems with the link?

@evr: Er. Weird. Was just me, i just tried it in vimprobable and works (i'm guessing Noscript/Adblock in my vimperator messed with the page, even though i toldd noscript to allow scripts).

new kde 4.4 (switched from kdemod 4.4).

wallpaper is current SOHO image (using wally + a script to download the latest image)
firefox 3.7a2 pgo (firefox-pgo-minefield package)
bespin window decorator + qtcurve

I'm still trying to find a way to get conky to be less obstrusive, while retaining the info i need (particularly the open/closed connections).  other than a small disaster when i first did the update from kdemod 4.3 to 4.4 (which is how i ended up removing kdemod altogether and switching to plain kde 4.4), i am liking the kde sc 4.4 update. 

I'm still leery of using activities due to the mess multiple desktops + activies seem to cause, but here's desktop #2, which only has some plasmoids to play with for now:

main one is SOHO explorer (can you tell i like looking at the current images of the sun?)
also comic book plasmoid (set to astro picture of the day) and luna.
