[Solved] Problems with themes after upgrading to kde 4.6.1

Hi, I have a problem after upgrading qt to version 4.6.1. I use awesome wm and only few application based on qt framework (vlc, wpa_gui, virtualbox) and they all look awful after upgrade. It's like there is no themes installed. I'll post a screenshot if it is necessarily.
Anyone have any idea?

Tnx

Yep, got the same problem here, I'm also an awesome wm user, a lot of my QT apps look awful, and if i select a different look, for example in SMplayer i select Plastique style and apply it, after i start the program again it just reverts to the messed up look hmm I tried removing my .kde and .kde4 directories but that didn't make any difference...

I found that running qtconfig and selecting a GUI style other than "Desktop Settings (Default)" fixed the post-upgrade ugliness in QT apps (qct, for example)

I can confirm. All application menus are completely broken in multi monitor setups. They refuse to show if application is not on the main screen. When it is on the main screen they show but most of the time are broken - wrong position, wrong size etc.

You need to install an RTFM interface.

Re: [Solved] Problems with themes after upgrading to kde 4.6.1

I just tried the qtconfig fix, no luck sad It seems the only style that works is if i select GTK+,  i selected it in smplayer and it remembers the setting, if i try anything else it just reverts as soon as i run the program again.

I have the problem that fonts are shown as single squares (in VLC; qtconfig etc.); I can't read anything. Happened after qt-update. Anyone experienced similar?

I noticed that menus in qt based applications works fine with xfce, it seems that problem occur only with tiling windows managers like awesome and multiple screens.

Sorry for my bad English. For those who want return to Oxygen style, the solution is simply copy /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/styles/oxygen.so to /usr/lib/qt/plugins/styles. After, simply select the style in qtconfig. It work for me.

Wow, thank you; this is the only thing I've found to work

Re: [Solved] Problems with themes after upgrading to kde 4.6.1

hi all,
when you need a qt theme installed into /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/ you've to add that path to your QT_PLUGIN_PATH.

I'm still trying to understand what changed from KDE 4.6.0, however that's the solution for the WMs (KDE sets it in startkde)

EDIT: here the KDE 4.6.1 change
