How to search these forums for posts about that new-fangled statistics thing, 'R'?
Search won't take single letter names. Of course, 'R' is hardly the only interesting piece of software like that. Languages 'C' and 'D' can be trouble too. One workaround, for those who already have a glue, is search for related terms like 'gcc' or a keyword in the language e.g. 'struct', but what is a total ignoramus noob to do? Probably need a "whole word" option for search.
Someday, someone is going to invent a nice piece of software and name it after the space character...then things will get interesting.

As an aside, you will probably not find anything useful related to R here. I recommend google, which is surprisingly for a 1 letter search term...

Doing a search like, 'R CRAN' or 'R statics', but obviously not in the forum. With only R you will find more trash.

Allan, as usual, is correct. R isn't much discussed here.
This search in Google gives only 16 hits:
site:bbs.archlinux.org "cran" OR "R language" OR "R project" OR "R software"
The same search, without the site qualifier, gives over 4,000.000 hits.

thisoldman - you found 16 more results than I could usefully obtain!
This "cran" term is new to me, beyond my meager ability to guess. With that magic token, I believe doors will open.

If you want to learn more about R look at the fairly active mailing lists, some specializing in certain subjects such as mixed models.

You can also have a look at this :

It's quite comprehensive and answered many of my questions.
