...kernel/drivers/media/video/bt866.ko exists in filesystem

Hello,

I've tried to upgrade my system today and got the following error message:

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
kernel26: /lib/modules/2.6.32-ARCH/kernel/drivers/media/video/bt866.ko exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Any idea, what am I supposed to do?

Thanks,
jmak

Seems the update tried to replace your videodriver but couldn't replace one of its old file. Try to remove the driver (with pacman -R or if that complains about dependencies with -Rd), do the upgrade and reinstall the driver afterwards. Don't reboot in the middle or you will have no X i.e. graphical system any more. smile

Exists in filesystem error means that the file is going to be overwritten. Just go -Sf to force overwriting (it's safe)

It's safe in this case.

Just clarifying that, as forcing is usually NOT recommended.

Just adding my agreement, for emphasis. smile
