Sound Module not loaded.

Hey,

Basically my sound is not working. alsamixer says that no sound cards are found and I cant seem to load a module that will make it work. If anyone has an idea how I could go about getting this up and running please let me know.

Im sure there is more information that you will need but not sure what so please ask and ill provide.

Thanx.

Re: Sound Module not loaded.

Hello. A good start might be to cut and paste the relevant entry from 'lspci' from a terminal.  Also if you haven't seen the beginner's guide or http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Adv … chitecture from the wiki those are excellent resources.

Re: Sound Module not loaded.

Sorry I have nothing of substance to add.  Only that I found someone from a few months back with nearly the same issue: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=71175 with the same card.  Hopefully this helps to isolate the problem and somehow helps someone to look further...

Re: Sound Module not loaded.

I have seemed to got it working, there is still the pop up that says audio isnt working thats not really a big deal.

Just so people who may see this after the fact may have a similar issue, I was able to resolve with this:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=703114

Seems that some /dev files were moved around while certain programs where still trying to access from old locations. The above approach is a hack but it works.

Hope this helps.
