hi,
just tried to run xcompmgr after a long time ignoring it! my problem is that it gives no errors when run from terminal, but it just displays bits of windows & the wallpaper!
as you can see from the screen shot below, 4 icons are missing from the right hand side of tint2 at the bottom of the screen, & wbar is missing from the top. I have to switch desktop to achieve even this, after 1 second on a desktop, everything disappears! it doesnt make any difference with xcompmgr options/flags either!

Have you tried running xcompmgr with a run dialogue instead of the terminal? I know on my machine it works great from fbrun but if I run it from a terminal it screws up my desktop almost like your seeing.

an update. I have been playing with the options, and i can get xcompmgr to run fine, but only with the -a flag! obviously, this is pointless as it "Use automatic server-side compositing. Faster, but no special effects"
anybody got any tips??
also, anyone know if xcompmgr has an error log? i cant find it if it does!
thanks
