What now?

hi i downloaded Arch linux core ISO and instaled it on my laptop, it went ok now im stuck at [root@myhost ~]# (this i my first encounter with linux) so how do i go to desktop now, what else do i need to install and how? thx in advance

Welcome to Arch! The Beginner's Guide in the wiki is a great resource to get you set up.  The install just gives you a very minimal system, so right now you're system is doing exactly what it should be doing - giving you a command line to work from.  If you follow along from the beginner's guide, it will step you through getting sound and graphical goodness set up.

Getting your first linux experiences with another distribution will probably save you lots of frustration.

Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Chakra (based on Arch) are a few that come to mind.

If you want to stick with Arch, the other posts already contain good tips.
