2.6.11 and dell 5150 keyboard issue

updated to the 2.6.11 kernel today and my keyboard doesn't work.  i'm hesitant to report this as a bug since i recently (late night incident) nuked the base of /etc ( http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … highlight= ), but not the subdirs. although i restored etc to what i thought was it's original condition, and everything under 2.6.10 works fine, my keyboard now does not. 

anybody have any thoughts about something i might have missed.  obviously it would be bad to nuke etc, but if i got back to functional under 2.6.10, what difference between that and 2.6.11 might cause this?  i diff'd the .configs and didn't see anything that struck me as obbvious.

i guess next time i need to search a little harder next time, that looks like exactly my situation (same model and everything).  thanks a lot i'm sure that's it, i'll give it a try here in a bit.
